This SOP shows how to add opportunities manually or via a simple workflow, move deals across stages, and use filters/search to control pipeline visibility
Create, move, and find opportunities in GoHighLevel to keep the sales pipeline accurate and current
Ideal outcome
Every new lead becomes an open opportunity in the correct pipeline/stage, deals advance on time, and users can quickly filter or search to see what matters
Why it matters
Consistent opportunity handling prevents missed leads, duplicate deals, and stalled pipelines, improving speed-to-lead and forecast accuracy
Before you start
You need access to the client sub-account with permission to view/edit opportunities and workflows. Refer to the SOP 274: Setting Up Pipelines in GoHighLevel (web version) to confirm pipelines are built and stages are defined. Refer to the SOP 276: GoHighLevel CRM Foundations (web version) to ensure opportunities are properly synced with contact data

1Add opportunity manually in opportunities3
Open the client GoHighLevel Sub-Account and go to "Opportunities" > click "+ Add opportunity" to start.
Enter the contact details and name the opportunity "ACME – Website Redesign". Set "Pipeline" to "Sales" and choose "New Lead" under "Stage". Set the Status to "Open" and the owner details to the default sales owner, if known. Enter the value, then click "Create" to add the opportunity.
Confirm the card appears in the selected stage on the board.
2Automate opportunity creation with a workflow7
Go to "Automation" > click "+ Create Workflow" > "Start from Scratch".
Click "Add Trigger" > Choose "Form Submitted" as the trigger.
Select the specific form used for new leads and save the trigger. If there are T&Cs in your form, set the filter to "yes" under "Terms and Conditions".
Next, click "Add Action" under the trigger step. Select "Create Opportunity" as the action and set "Pipeline" to the correct pipeline for new leads. Set "Stage" to the first stage (e.g., "New Lead") and then set "Status" to "Open". Click "Save Action".
Edit name using tokens if helpful (e.g., {{contact.first_name}} – Website Lead).
Once CRM triggers and actions are added as per business needs, set contacts under "Test Workflow" and click "Run Test". This defaults to the sales owner. Toggle on "Publish" to activate the workflow.
Click "Save" and verify that a new opportunity appears in the correct pipeline/stage.
